Sheeting, in particular for use in the construction of structures where there is a lack of space, has vertical drain elements and a horizontal drainage system, by means of which the build-up of a banked water level and water pressures is avoided as a result of the draining of water into wet soils. Here, the water is directed to a recipient via vertical drain elements and drain collecting lines. Furthermore, the drain system enables water to be drained from water-bearing layers into underlying layers or fissures capable of absorbing water. In a further embodiment, the sheeting can be used to avoid the development of a banked water level on one side and water lowering on the other side of the structure by the arrangement of a connecting line between the drain systems of two sheeting units. <IMAGE>
