PURPOSE:To prepare the titled dense ferrite having a small particle diameter and improved processability, by adding Al2O3 and CaO to a nonmagnetic zinc ferrite consisting essentially of ZnO and Fe2O3, primarily calcining the resultant raw material powder, and molding the resultant calcined powder by the hydrostatic pressure molding method under heating. CONSTITUTION:0.3-2.0wt% Al2O3 and <=0.5wt% CaO or MgO (except 0wt%) as accessory components are added to a nonmagnetic ferrite consisting essentially 0f 49.5-52.0mol% ZnO and 48.0-51.0mol% Fe2O3, and the resultant raw material powder thus prepared is primarily calcined and then treated by the pressing method with a hydrostatic pressure under heating to reduce the porosity remarkably with a small average particle diameter without depositing zinc. The resultant nonmagnetic zinc ferrite is useful as a gap spacer material in a magnetic head. |
