A device for firmly clamping an electrical conductor against a contact surface, having a compression piston (12) which can be moved in the direction of the contact surface (14) and has a compression surface (15), it being possible to insert a conductor end (23) between the contact surface (14) and the compression surface (15) when the piston (12) is in its position of maximum separation. A cylindrical space (26), which is allocated to the piston (12) and is connected to a pressure-medium source, is provided with a leakage opening (8) which can be closed by means of a moving sealing device (7). Furthermore, the device is equipped with a force-transmitting device (5) for transmitting a compression force which is exerted by the conductor end (23) to the moving sealing device (7), so that the leakage opening (8) is closed when the conductor (23) is inserted into the device, as a result of which the piston (12) is displaced against the conductor (23) and firmly clamps said conductor against the contact surface (14). The device is provided especially to be used for monitoring electronic contact products. <IMAGE>
