PURPOSE:To always surely prevent sheets of paper from being sent while being overlapped, by making variable the torque of a slip clutch for transmitting motive power to paper return rollers facing paper separation rollers and by changing the torque to be high for a prescribed time if the front edge of the paper is detected. CONSTITUTION:A paper feeder comprises a paper feed unit 100 including paper feed rollers 101 and separation rollers 102, and a blocking unit 200 made of return rollers 201, which are turned in the opposite direction to the separation rollers. The return rollers 201 are supported by a frame 204 swingable about a support shaft 206, which is rotated through a sprocket 220 and a slip clutch 221. The torque of the clutch 221 can be changed. When the front edge of paper 11 is detected by a paper sensor 150 during the feeding of the paper, the torque of the clutch 221 is made high and kept high for a prescribed time and thereafter made low. |
