PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium with which the output of a short wavelength is highest and the output of a long wavelength is not spoiled by arranging particles in such a way that the components is parallel with the surface of a magnetic layer among flat plate-like particles increase in the part nearer the surface layer part than the inside in the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A titled medium consists of a magnetic layer 2 contg. flat plate- like ferromagnetic particles on a nonmagnetic base 1. The ferromagnetic particles existing in the surface layer part 3 in the layer 2 contain more components in parallel with the surface of the magnetic layer than the ferromagnetic particles existing in the inside 4 of the magnetic layer. The ferromagnetic particles existing in the inside 4 of the magnetic layer are more preferably oriented in parallel than perpendicularly to the surface of the magnetic layer. There are barium-ferrite (BaFe12O19; hexagonal ferrite), barium-ferrite wherein a part of barium and/or ferrite is substd. with metal such as Ca, Sr, or Pb, manganese- bismuth, etc. as the magnetic material. The shape is like a plate such as disc or hexagonal plate, and the axis of easy magnetization thereof is perpendicular to the plane of the plate. |
