Apparatus for the manipulation of pressed material during the course of producing and/or finishing chipboards, fibreboards and the like in a board press. Arranged on both sides of the pressed boards are travelling bars, connected to the travelling bars by means of parallelogram links are adjusting bars. Manipulating tools are fastened to the adjusting bars. The travelling bars can be moved back and forth between the plate press and an unloading table or the like. The adjusting bars can be adjusted with respect to the travelling bars with the aid of adjusting cylinder/piston arrangements back and forth with respect to the centre of the press over a predetermined adjusting path. The manipulating tools can be moved on the adjusting bars or with the adjusting bars with the aid of manipulating cylinder/piston arrangements. The manipulating tools are designed as suction heads with suction plates, which can be moved up and down with the aid of the manipulating cylinder/piston arrangements and, as a result, can be placed on the edges of finish-pressed pressed material, to be precise preferably closely together. The adjusting path of the adjusting cylinder/piston arrangements can be set with the aid of a setting device to the format width of the pressed material, to be precise in such a way that the suction plates can be placed onto the pressed material in the outermost edge region. The suction plates are arranged closely together. In this way, even thin and very thin pressed material can be picked up. <IMAGE>
