A crop conditioning rotor (44) carries a plurality of radially outwardly extending crop conditioning arms (46), each arm being mounted on the rotor by mounting means comprising resilient means (54) and a break-back mechanism (51, 52) such that the arm yields against a resilient force produced by said resilient means (54) up to a certain limit consistent with engagement with a non-yielding object, and, beyond this limit, causes said break-back mechanism (51, 52) to operate to avoid said object. Preferably, said mounting means comprises a lug (48) on the rotor to which the arm (46) is pivotally connected, and a resiliently loaded moveable stop (52) that cooperates with the arm so that yielding movement of the arm serves to move the stop and increase said resilient force up to an angular limit at which the arm frees itself from the return action of the stop. <IMAGE> |
