An enzyme electrode with an SH enzyme, i.e. an enzyme whose SH groups are involved in the enzymatic activity, or a reactor with an immobilised SH enzyme is brought into contact with a solution of an SH compound such as mercaptoethanol. This increases the lifespan (between the measurements) of the electrode used for measuring dissolved components, and of the reactor.
