A measuring device for determining the speed/acceleration of trackless land vehicles, in particular cycles, consisting of a sliding wheel which is connected via an oscillating arm (1) to the measuring vehicle such that it can pivot about the pitch axis in order to equalise unevennesses in the roadway or spring rates, contains a follow-up mechanism which eliminates the measuring errors due to spring movements of the tractor vehicle or wheel jumps of the measuring wheel (10). In order to obtain an accurate measurement result, the oscillating arm (1) is assigned the follow-up mechanism, which consists of a fixed stick lever (3) on the vehicle coupling (2), a movable stick lever (4) on the measuring wheel (10) and of a connecting rod (5) movably mounted at both ends (connecting rod bearings 7, 8), the sensor (11) being mounted on the stick lever (4) of the measuring wheel (10). <IMAGE>
