PURPOSE:To detect the inclination of a polygon precisely and stably by applying the operation of similarity between a directional histogram of density grade of an objective polygon and the polygon to a picture processor. CONSTITUTION:Random noise is removed from an inputted picture, a density grade direction detecting part 4 and a directional histogram detecting part 5 detect the direction of a density grade and a directional histogrm respectively and the detected results are sent to a correlation calculating part 6. On the other hand, the output of a triangular wave generating part 7 is sent to a phase shifting part 8 and the phase-shifted result is sent to the correlation calculating part 6 to calculate the correlation. The calculated output of the correlation calculating part 6 is sent to a maximum value detecting part 9 to detect the maximum value of the correlation of respective phase conditions of the output from the phase shifting part 8. An inclination detecting part 10 detects a phase value indicating that the correlation is the maximum value and finds out and outputs the inclination of the objective polygon on the basis of the conversion of the detected result. Even if the peak of the directional histogram is unclear, the inclination of the polygon can be detected. |
