PURPOSE:To transform hydrocarbons efficiently to carbon fiber by thermal cracking by introducing gaseous hydrocarbons into a reaction pipe provided with multistages of carbon fiber base plates so as to prevent the passages of the gas from being aligned. CONSTITUTION:Base plates 2, 3 made of ceramic or graphite, etc. and base plate 2' of cylindrical tube are disposed in a reaction pipe 1. Passages of gas 21 are formed at the periphery of the base plate 2, and passage hole of gas is provided at the center of the base plate 3. The base plates 2, 3 are disposed alternately in multistages at a specified distance so as to prevent a line connecting the gas passages 21, 31 from being aligned in a straight line. The gaseous hydrocarbons diluted with gaseous H2 is introduced from an inlet 4 of the reaction pipe and the exhaust gas is discharged from an outlet 5. By this method, the yield of carbon fiber transformed from the hydrocarbons is improved because of the flow of the reaction gas colliding with the base plate 2, 3. |
