An end mill fitted with indexable inserts, which with their main cutting edges are arranged so as to follow spiral rows on the periphery of the tool body in such a way that the main cutting edges of the indexable inserts of adjacent rows are in each case staggered relative to one another, is designed in such a way that all rows in each case contain an end indexable insert with a secondary cutting edge lying on the front end of the tool body and adjoining the respective main cutting edge via an outer corner, and in each second row this end indexable insert has a longer main cutting edge covering the gap between the shorter main cutting edges of the two allocated indexable inserts of the respectively adjacent row. In order to obtain satisfactory cutting relationships of the cutting edges of the end indexable inserts without having to tolerate impairment of the machined workpiece surface or a poorer utilisation of the indexable inserts, the arrangement is made in such a way that, of the end indexable inserts of the individual rows, merely every second indexable insert is arranged with a positive plan angle of its secondary cutting edge and the other end indexable inserts are each set back axially by a small amount relative to these indexable inserts while making available their secondary cutting edge, and that they ... with these indexable inserts in the areas of the outer corners ...
