Bench which can be converted into a bed comprising two plates 1, 2 articulated about a horizontal axis XX, these plates being capable of being either locked one with respect to the other, forming an angle E, or of being opened out flat. A first plate 1 is mounted by virtue of articulation means 13 on a support 10 while the second plate 2 is normally stopped by first stopping means 8 in the slightly raised sitting position. Second stopping means 19 are arranged so that when the first plate 1 is folded down, it is stopped in a position tilted upwards by an angle B so as to be capable of acting as a seat. <IMAGE>
