In manufg. AUC (Ammonium Uranyl Carbonate), waste water contains a considerable quantity of uranium compound. The uranium can be recovered by the following method. The waste water, which contains ammonium carbonate (1 mol/1), ammonium nitrate (0.88 mol/1), and uranium (1 g/1) is mixed with methyl alcohol, 4-20 volume % of waste water, and is then heated at 97≦̸C. The ammonium carbonate is decomposed to carbonic acid gas and ammonia. The waste water is cooled slowly. The ammonium uranate is crystallized, filtered, and separated.
