The invention relates to a 6 x 6 articulated machine capable of handling, with integral autonomy, and of transporting high tonnage self-advancing support timbering. The complete timbering 2 is hauled on board along the axis of the vehicle using a winch 15, on a foldable ramp 11, 12, 13 with slight slope, giving access to a bottom transport cradle 8 located between the four driving wheels which move the carrying structure 7, without any axle line physically passing through it; the ground clearance is nevertheless greater than 300 mm. Whilst the timbering is being dragged along the ground of the work site, to bring it to the input of the ramp, the machine is anchored to the ground by shoes 31 bearing via jacks. The assembly is hydraulically controlled by a unit powered by a diesel engine, to which an explosion proof (flame proof) device may be added. <IMAGE>
