PURPOSE:To obtain the titled treating agent showing improved desulfurizing efficiency without increasing the material unit by blending a CaCO3-base desulfurizing agent with a specified amount of hydrocarbon from coal. CONSTITUTION:A desulfurizing agent for molten iron contg. CaCO3 and CaO as CaO sources and principal components and alkali metallic halides or alkaline earth metallic halides as a flux is blended with at least one kind of org. compound selected among hydrocarbons from coal, naphthol and carbazole. The amount of the org. compound is 3-20wt% of the amount of the desulfurizing agent, and for example, anthracene is added. The resulting treating agent for desulfurizing molten iron by blowing produces a significant desulfurizing effect, and molten iron is effectively pretreated with the treating agent. |
