The device for connecting a flat ribbon cable comprises an intermediate adaptor which is inserted between the IC and the IC base (2). It consists of a base plate (7), having rows of insulation-piercing terminal contacts (8) for the connection of the laterally inserted flat ribbon cable (14), and of a cover plate (11) in which chambers (16), containing double-spring contacts (18) which are bent in an S-shape and having insertion openings for the insulation-piercing terminal contacts, are fitted on the one hand, and in which the connecting pins (3) of the IC are fitted on the other hand. The device is used for measurements on circuits containing ICs and operating in real time, for the connection of flat ribbon cable bus systems or additional circuits, and for testing fitted printed-circuit boards in large-scale production. <IMAGE>
