The wishbone for sailboards has a head piece (10) with which it is firmly clamped to the mast (16). Attached to the head piece are a fixed clamping jaw (26) and a pivotable clamping jaw (28) which come to bear laterally on the back of the mast when the latter is located in the mast receptacle (24) in the head piece. The movable clamping jaw (28) acts as a spring-loaded latch. It gives way to the outside upon insertion of the mast and snaps into place again directly behind the mast so that the sail can be trimmed by pulling the mast into the receptacle (24). <IMAGE>
