The motor-compressor for refrigerant gas has a sealed housing including a gas compressor and motor for driving the compressor mounted in the housing. The housing has a gas inlet and conduit means for connecting the gas inlet to the compressor while isolating gas passed through the inlet from the motor. The conduit includes a tube mounted in the housing and a second tube having one end slidably mounted on the first and the other end surrounding the gas inlet. A spring constantly urges the second tube toward the gas inlet. The conduit includes a muffler having an opening with one end of the tube surrounding the opening. Its other end extends into the gas inlet. A spring acts between the gas inlet and tube to constantly urge the tube toward the opening in the muffler.
