The invention relates to a multipurpose drawing rule. According to the invention, the rule 1 is made up of a flexible element 2 which is generally straight at rest and is made from an elastic material, and a traction means 3 acting on the ends 4 and 5 of the flexible element 2 to cause the latter to bow. In a preferred embodiment of the traction means 3, these take the form of a cord 3 with little balls 6 at one end which lodge in a slot formed at the end 5 of the flexible element 2. The invention will be of particular application in drawing offices and for industrial designers for drawing curves with large radii of curvature. <IMAGE>
