The invention relates to a pneumatic cylinder drive, preferably in industrial automatic production machines, a piston rod 2 serving as a power-transmission member in a driving and/or holding mechanism for performing repetitive operations. The invention essentially consists in the fact that at least one compressed-air chamber 8 is allocated to the working cylinder 1, which compressed-air chamber 8 is connected to the adjacent cell 4 of the working cylinder 1 via an opening 10 which can be closed by a valve 9. The compressed-air chamber 8 is connected to the compressed-air supply network via a separate connection 12. Arranged on the side of the compressed-air chamber 8 opposite the working cylinder 1 is a valve control device which acts on the valve 9 via a valve stem 9a arranged on the valve body 9b and is likewise connected to the compressed-air supply network. The valve 9 is opened via the valve control device at the same time as compressed air is admitted to the working cylinder 1. Due to the double admission of compressed air to the working cylinder 1 in this way, the piston 3 of the cylinder drive undergoes maximum acceleration. <IMAGE>
