1. Tool for fitting cattle identification tags of various shapes and dimensions, these tags being of the type comprising two interengaging parts, one so-called male part (10) having a pointed hollow rod (12) adapted to pass through the animal's ear, and a so-calles female part (11) having an eyelet (14) provided with a protective skirt (15) and adapted to receive and lock the tip (13) of the rod (12) of the male part (10), the said tool comprising two jaws (16, 17) which are articulated one on the other and one of which has a pin (22) adapted to receive the hollow rod (12) of the male part (10), while the second jaw has a socket (25) adapted to receive the eyelet (14) of the female part (11), in which tool the pin (22) is mounted interchangeably on the first jaw (16), while the socket (25) is formed by a cover (28) articulated on the jaw, adapted to be raised resiliently, having a forked shape, and adapted to grip axially the eyelet (14), which may be more or less thick, the tool being characterised in that the socket (25) has in addition positioning means (31, 44, 48) adaptable to various diameters of the protective skirt (15) and intended for encircling the said skirt. |
