Paper supporting and transporting device for printers

The paper supporting and transporting device of a printer comprises a continuous, flexible and elastic belt element (50) which is guided over roller-type elements (52, 54, 56) near to the front of a print head (58) in such a way that it forms a flat surface allowing clean printing. One of the roller-type elements (56) is connected to a motor (60) and drives the elastic belt element in a printing pause in such a way that the paper to be printed is transported further in a vertical and slip-free manner in the direction of movement of the belt element (50).
