PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of reducing a size of an external housing at the time of carrying-in, transportation and the like.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: a process unit performing printing processing with respect to a printing medium; and an external housing 6 accommodating the process unit. The external housing 6 is variable to a first shape and a second shape having a volume smaller than that of the first shape. The external housing 6 includes: a housing main body 33; and an overhang portion 60 variable to a first state where projecting with respect to the housing main body 33 and a second state where having an overhang quantity A smaller than that of the first state with respect to the housing main body 33.
