PURPOSE:To facilitate the installation and removal of the top cowling of an outboard engine, by positioning the open and close split surfaces of the cowling at a level in the vicinity of the top of a cylinder so that an ignition plug and a carburettor confront the cowling in the vicinity of the open and close split surfaces of the cowling. CONSTITUTION:A top cowling 56 is formed in a shallow-bottomed cover-like shape, for closing the top opening of an upper casing 14 as a bottle cowling. The open and close split surfaces 58 of these top cowling 56 and upper casing 14 are positioned in the vicinity of the top of a cylinder 18, crossing a cylinder head 24, and therefore, the top of an engine 12 and a carburettor 32 confront upward through the split surfaces 58. The rear edge of the top cowling 56 is attached to the upper casing 14 colsably upward by means of a hinge joint 60, and the front edge thereof may be locked in its closed position by means of a latch 62. |
