The invention relates to a flat screen having a rear part (1), a front part (2) and a flexible control plate (3) joined between them. Together with the rear part (1), the control plate projects on two opposite edges over the front part (2) and, together with the front part (2), it projects over the rear part (1) on the two other edges. Said control plate (3) is connected to both parts via glass-solder frames (17). The following soldering method is proposed: throughout the entire soldering process in which the individual screen parts are stacked one above the other, the control plate (3) is held in a rigid coupling frame (18) which is formed from four webs (19, 20). Each of the four frame webs (19, 20) is located in the region of one of the projecting plate edge zones where it presses the plate against the rear part or front part respectively. Such a frame ensures that the flexible control plate (3) is not bent by the weight of the screen parts resting on it and it thus ensures that there is a uniform pressure on all the glass-solder frames (17). In this way, leaks and tears in the plate are avoided. Main field of application: high-information-content flat displays, especially for visual display units or television sets. <IMAGE>
