PURPOSE:The titled resin, obtained by reducing volatile components in a methacrylic acid ester-containing polymer containing specific alicyclic hydrocarbon groups in the ester moieties in the absence of oxygen under heating, and having improved heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:A low moisture absorbing methacrylic resin, obtained by reducing volatile components in a polymer, e.g. bornyl methacrylate or fentyl methacrylate, containing methacrylic acid, esters havig 8-20C alicyclic hydrocarbon groups in the ester moieties in the absence of oxygen under conditions of 70- 350 deg.C to give <=1.2wt%, and having improved heat resistance and low moisture absorbing properties. Preferably, the above-mentioned polymer contains 97- 50wt% methyl methacrylate. |
