PURPOSE:To enable the parts of an ink ribbon used to be evenly distributed, by a method wherein output signals from a ribbon feeding direction recording circuit and a timing-generating circuit are inputted, and the ink ribbon-feeding direction is designated to an inverse flip-flop circuit. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon-feeding direction memory 309 stores the ribbon-feeding direction before a power source is thrown in. When a ribbon leading end detection signal 106a or a ribbon trailing end detection signal 107a is outputted, it is impressed on a writing terminal WRITE for the memory 309, and the content of a data terminal DATA of the memory 309 is written. The memory 309 is provided with a non-volatile storage function, so that the contents thereof are not varied by turning-ON or turning-OFF of the power source. The first ribbon-feeding direction after throwing in the power source is determined by the information stored in the memory 309, and the ink ribbon is fed in the same feeding direction as that before throwing in the power, so that the initial feeding direction is not fixed but optimized. |
