An apparatus for removing soil, clay and the like from vehicle tyres, in particular from wide tread tyres, such as tractor tyres, comprises at least one cleaning mechanism 7a, 7b with a number of impact elements, for example in the form of balls at the ends of radially controlled lengths of wire, which are connected to a preferably flexible shaft 17, which can be driven from the vehicle power take-off 23. The shaft 17 is mounted at a distance from the vehicle tyre such that, as they rotate, the impact elements strike against the tread of the tyre. The vehicle tyres 1 can thereby be continuously cleaned whilst driving. The cleaning mechanisms 7a and 7b may be mounted on a swivelling arm 20, by means of which they can be swivelled away from the tyre 1. <IMAGE> |
