Each of the pulleys 3 supporting the loaded strand of the belt 2 is provided as a drive pulley. For this purpose a motor-reduction unit 8 is provided whose output shaft carries a roller 7 cooperating with an internal track of one of the rims 3b of the pulley. A device with a calibrated spring 10 applies the roller 7 against the said track. A control device which is not shown allows the roller to be disengaged from the track of the pulley in the case of triggering of the control contact breaker of the electric motor.
