PURPOSE:To improve adhesion between a support and an emulsion layer and to render a surface uniform by forming a subbing layer made of a specified compsn. on the surface of a polyester film subjected to corona discharge treatment. CONSTITUTION:At least one side of polyester film faces is subjected to corona discharge treatment, and this treated layer is coated with a subbing compsn. contg. an acrylate copolymer having styrene as one of copolymn. components, a compd. having >=2 epoxy rings, and gelatin as effective components. The second component of these components contributes to strengthening of adhesion of the acrylate and strongly bonding of a photographic gelatin to a supporting film. The gelatin as a binder strongly adheres to the supporting film without forming a nonuniform layer, and turns the subbing layer hydrophilic, and effectively serves as retention of adhesion during photographic processing. Both these compds. exhibit synergistic effect for the adhesion that cannot be obtained each alone. Such a subbing treatment does not produce harmful gases, etc., and improves operation performance. |
