摘要 The invention relates to a method for the polarimetric measurement of the rolling angle of a movable machine part. In order to increase the accuracy of resolution of the rolling angle in polarimetric measurement, two components of linearly polarised light are isolated from the light, which have directions of polarisation that are at least approximately mutually perpendicular and which in terms of angle adopt - in the neutral position of the machine part with regard to the rolling movement - a relative position of 45 DEG between the measuring direction and reference direction. Given a change in the rolling state with respect to the neutral position, one light component increases, whereas the other light component decreases, so that the difference between these two light components can be used as a measure of the rolling angle. Various devices for realising this method are described. The method can, furthermore, also be applied for the purpose of refining measurement of the light-turning effect of light-transmitting substances.
