In a track conductor with centre conductor and outer conductor which meanders with respect to the latter, there is provision to lay the centre conductor (for example L1) as outer conductor and the outer conductor (L2) as centre conductor in successive sections (S1, S2) of the route. As a result, the conductor track arrangement is made symmetrical from section to section, the said symmetry leading to an approximately linear progression of the signal voltage over the route. This measure permits the length of the conductor track arrangement to be operated from a route control centre to be increased considerably with respect to an arrangement without symmetry. This is particularly significant at high signal frequencies because, here, without the symmetry according to the invention only a very irregular voltage characteristic over the track conductor can be detected. By means of an additional reception coil to be coupled to the respective centre conductor and comparative evaluation of the reception voltages introduced in the coils coupled to the central conductor(s), the passage through route section boundaries can be detected on the vehicle and thus the vehicle can be located with absolute precision. <IMAGE>
