The demands made, in order to achieve high penetrating powers of hollow charges, on the material of the liner for high density, fine granulation of the structure, freedom from textures and good extensibility are met according to the invention by the use of metallic glasses. In this case, only the inner part of the liner has to consist of metallic glass. Two processes are described for producing the liners: 1. Spraying the metal melt onto a thoroughly cooled carrier in thin layers, with subsequent cold compaction. 2. Pressing pulverised metallic glass, if necessary with addition of a binder, the necessary pressing force advantageously being generated by means of explosives. s
