PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simulation device that displays notations, such as a random word string, at random timing during execution of numerical control.SOLUTION: A graphic display unit 4 graphically displays the actions of tools in accordance with instructions to display the position of each tool relative to the raw material after the lapse of a unit length of time sent from a numerical control instruction execution unit 3. Notation input means 5 prepares notation data to be stored in a notation storage unit 6. The numerical control instruction execution unit 3 sends, at the time of executing a numerical control instruction, an identifier for identifying the numerical control instruction to a notation determining unit 7 simultaneously with sending of a positional instruction to the graphic display unit 4. The notation determining unit 7 references the identifier for identifying the numerical control instruction and notations stored in the notation storage unit 6 and, if there is any notation having an identical identifier, sends it to the graphic display unit 4.
