A description is given of a device for cladding surfaces, in particular ceilings and interior and exterior walls of buildings, in the form of a plastic or metal strip which is essentially U-shaped in cross-section. In the case of said device, the object is to provide a way in which devices of this type can be rendered suitable, in particular, also for the layman and for private use, the intention being not only that the devices be used for aesthetic enhancement but also that they may be used as heat-insulating elements and for noise insulation and the like. This is achieved in that the interspace formed by the U-legs (4) and the U-web (5) is filled with a foamed plastic material (3). <IMAGE>
