The invention relates to an apparatus for advancing the road head with accompanying gate road (top road) by the use of a heading machine which is guided on a shiftable loading conveyor. The loading conveyor preferably consists of an angle conveyor, on whose leg parallel to the roadway side the heading machine is guided. With a leg running in the direction of the roadway, the angle conveyor feeds the won minerals to the face conveyor led out into the roadway. Arranged between the loading conveyor and the face-conveyor section led out into the roadway are hydraulic support assemblies against which the shifting devices shifting the loading conveyor are supported. Furthermore, a follow-up device is arranged between at least one support assembly and the face-conveyor section led out into the roadway. The ripping of the road head to the cross-section of the gate road is conveniently effected by means of a ripping machine (ripper). While maintaining the transfer of its won minerals from the loading conveyor to the face conveyor, the loading conveyor can be shifted independently of the face conveyor.
