The invention relates to an apparatus for the nested stacking of profiled rolled bars in double layers, consisting of a transverse conveyor which extends to a stacking table and has stops for arresting the advanced rolled bars, of rotating magnets which are arranged on rotating arms and are pivotably mounted on axles situated below the conveying plane, and of transfer arms for transferring the double layers of rolled bars formed by means of the rotating magnet to the stacking table. In known systems of this type, transverse transport must be blocked during transfer to the stacking table. The object of this invention is to increase output by reducing the periods in which transverse transport is blocked. According to the invention, it is proposed that the rotating magnet (8) place a first group (5) of rolled bars onto a second group (4) of rolled bars in the opposite direction to the direction of transverse conveying and swing the double layer formed in this way back onto the vertically movable transfer arms (19) by means of magnetic force. <IMAGE>
