In order, in a receiver for solar radiation with a flow path for a gaseous medium, in which the solar radiation can be abosrbed at least partially, to be able to carry out the absorption, even in the case of media with high pressures, with a high degree of efficiency and without too great a stress on the material used, it is proposed that the receiver has at least one hollow body made of substantially radiation-permeable material, the front wall of which is directed towards the source of radiation while its longitudinal walls run essentially parallel to the incidence of the radiation, that in the hollow body a central supply line for the gaseous medium ends in the region of the front side facing the source of radiation at such a small spacing from the front side that the medium emerging therefrom flows along the front wall with increased flow speed, that there is provided in the hollow body between the longitudinal walls and the supply line a return-flow path for the gaseous medium, which path leads to an outlet, and that the hollow body is surrounded by a pressure-absorbing outer wall.
