Solid dispersion of pharmacologically active agent

The active agent (a) has a max. solubility of 0.01% at 37 deg.C in water, (b) is present in the matrix at a total concn. above 5 wt.% and (c) is present in the matrix at a concn. of above 5 wt.% in a coherent crystalline form. The matrix material is pref. a polyalkylene glycol, esp. a polyethylene glycol of mol. wt. 4000-20,000. The solid dispersions are obtd. by dissolving the active agents at a concn. above 5 wt.% in a liquified dispersing agent and solidifying the mixt. The solid dispersion is pref. granulated to a particle size of 50-2000 microns.
