The invention relates to a method for the rapid determination of the oxygen pressure pO2 in arterial or venous blood and to a test strip and a measuring strip for carrying out the method. For sufficiently accurate determination, blood samples from a patient are placed in boreholes provided for this purpose in a measuring strip made of glass-clear plastic, which is brought to coincidence with a test strip in order to be able visually to compare the colours of the blood samples on the measuring strip with the colour zones on the test strip without errors due to the effects of light, the colour values thereof each being representative of an oxygen pressure and/or oxygen saturation in freshly removed blood, and being arranged in chromatically monotonic sequence next to a scale assigned to the colour zones and having the corresponding values of the oxygen pressure (in mm Hg) and/or the oxygen saturation (in %) in the blood. <IMAGE>
