PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of air intake in an engine provided with a supercharger and having a helical intake-air port and a tangential intake air port, by making the swirling direction of intake-air from the supercharger coincident with the helical direction of the helical intake-air port. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a helical intake-air port 5a and a tangential intake-air port 5 in each cylinder, and a turbo-supercharger is disposed in a merging intake-air passage upstream of the intake-air ports. A discharged air stream generates a vortex flow in the discharge side passage 27 of a compressor 29 in the turbo-supercharger. A predetermined direction of the vortex flow in the intake-air port 5a is made coincident with the direction of the discharge vortex flow from the compressor. With this arrangement a strong swirl may be generated, and as well the vortex flow may be directly introduced so that it is possible to enhance the efficiency of air intake. |
