PURPOSE:To enable to drop the firing voltage between the main anode and the cathode by a method wherein an auxiliary anode or a starting electrode is provided in parallel to the cathode. CONSTITUTION:The section of a cathode 1 is extended long along gas flow 2 and an anode 3 is connected to the anode side of a power source 4 through ballast resistors 5 and 5. An auxiliary anode 7 is connected to the anode side of the power source 4 through a limiting resistor 6. By constituting in such a way, glow discharge is generated between the cathode 1 and the auxiliary anode 7 and parts of charged particles generated there reach the anode 3 riding on the gas flow 2. Whereby the main glow discharge between the cathode 1 and the anode 3 is made to start at lower voltage, as compared to a case where the auxiliary anode 7 is not provided. The laser beam is reflected by mirrors 9 and 9 and is outputted. |
