<p>@ A duo-servo brake comprisng a pair of arcuate brake shoes (3,4) within a brake drum (1), automatically operating means (9) being provided located between opposed shoe ends for adjusting the clearance between shoes and drum characterised by the provision of a pair of pivotable adjuster plates (24, 25) having pawls (32, 33) each pawl being engageable with a ratchet toothed adjuster wheel (18, 19) whereby when the shoes are moved by drag from the drum (1) upon brake actuation the automatically operated means (9) enables pivotable movement of one or other adjuster plate to cause its pawl to ride over a ratchet wheel tooth, springs (34, 35) subsequently causing the wheel to rotate a screwthreaded means (22, 23) to automatically adjust the clearance between one or other of the shoes and the drum.</p> |
