The wheels on a stub axle are driven by shafts from a differential gear (19) fixed to the vehicle body. The axle holders are connected by flexible bearings (34,35) to a solid connector member (24) in whose centre a tubular sleeve (33) locates on to a ball connector (32), fixed to the vehicle body (31) below the vehicle drive shaft. At each outer end, the connector member is connected to the vehicle body by universal linkages (27,28). A similar system can be fitted to steered wheels.
