<p>A lectern for standing on a generally flat supporting surface and holding an article such as a book, binder, clipboard or other article carrying matter for viewing, reading, or lecturing from, comprises a generally planar member (10, 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d) which is adapted to rest in a stable manner on a supporting surface with support means (17, 47, 57, 67) formed or provided at or adjacent to one edge of the planar member for supporting the article by engagement of a marginal portion thereof in a predetermined display position in which ther article extends in a generally upright manner whilst the base member is arranged substantially horizontally. When not in use, the base member can be accommodated within the cover plates of an associated binder. </p> |
