The invention relates to a luminescent screen for image display units, having a screen glass plate (1) and a layer of fluorescent material (3), located on the said plate and provided with a layer of adhesive (2). In the case of this luminescent screen, to increase the luminous efficiency it is intended to achieve a particularly low thickness of the layer of fluorescent material of good adhesive strength at the same time as a high area-covering density with fluorescent material. For this purpose, the invention provides that the fluorescent colours of the layer of fluorescent material (3), preferably the fluorescent colours red (R), green (G) and blue (B), are applied to the screen glass plate (1) in a grid-shaped or line-shaped arrangement as a layer of powder coating. A luminescent screen according to the invention is used as a flat plasma image screen. <IMAGE>
