A description is given of a downpipe for channelling water away from all the intermediate floors arranged in a plurality of storeys, in particular from balconies and terraces, having, in the water inlet area of each intermediate floor, water-inlet openings arranged in the outer surface of a longitudinal portion of the downpipe. Within the downpipe (2, 4) and concentrically therewith, there is arranged in each water-inlet region a tubular covering body (6) which extends at least over the longitudinal portion having the water-inlet openings (5). The covering body, which has a smaller internal diameter than the downpipe (2, 4), is connected in a sealed manner to the downpipe (2, 4), above the water-inlet openings (5), and the outer wall of the covering body runs and terminates at a distance from the inner wall of the downpipe (2, 4). In this arrangement, the tubular covering body (6) may be designed in a conically tapering manner in the down direction. <IMAGE>
