The invention relates to a self-extinguishing thermoplastic moulding composition containing, based on the moulding composition, (A) from 98 to 60 % by weight of a thermoplastic resin made from a copolymer comprising 10-90 % by weight of styrene and 90-10 % by weight of ring-alkylated styrenes, (B) from 0 to 20 % by weight of an elastomer having a glass transition temperature, Tg, of < 0 DEG C as impact modifier, (C) from 2 to 30 % by weight of a halogen-containing organic compound (flameproofing agent) and optionally containing (D) up to 15 % by weight of a metal- or non-metal-containing compound (synergist) and (E) conventional additives.
