An open evaporation funnel having a flowmeter which determines the water quantity flowing in and out. This set can be used for determining the evaporation behaviour of free water surfaces. At the same time, it can be used as a precipitation meter. As a result of its construction as an open funnel, the water level in the container is continuously matched to the set immersion depth and thus to the outer water level. The quantity of fluid flowing in and out, which is equivalent to the evaporation or the precipitation, can be recorded continuously with the aid of a flowmeter. Continuous measurement is thus possible over relatively long time periods, as well as automation.
